Yi was born in China and grew up in the capital city, Beijing. He obtained his bachelor degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2016. Over the next two years, he pursued a master’s degree in EE at UNSW in Sydney, Australia.
After graduation, Yi joined the Global Energy Interconnection Research Institute as an R&D engineer, making significant contributions to various projects, including the Green Power Supply for the Beijing Winter Olympics. His previous research focus was on medium-voltage multi-port flexible substations and the application of silicon carbide devices.
In 2023, Yi embarked on a new journey as he joined the E2GO project and commenced his doctoral studies at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. During this period, he will collaborate closely with Delta Electronics, researching the application of solid-state transformers (SST) in fast-charging stations for electric vehicles.
