Third Training Event in Portugal

In October 2024, we had the pleasure of visiting the University of Minho in the picturesque city of Guimaraes for our third training event, expertly organized by the University of Minho and Efacec.

The first day was filled with valuable technical training, featuring three engaging lectures by Prof. Vitor Monteiro, Prof. Joao Luiz Afonso and Prof. Francisco Brito that delved into the advancements in power electronics design, grid operability, and energy management for EV fast charging technology.

On the second day, the main Consotium meeting between the Doctoral candidates, Professors and our industrial partners was scheduled. Our Doctoral Candidates presented their research progress, sparking valuable discussions from industry leaders focused on practical aspects of converter design and industrial implementation. Together, we identified new strategies to enhance collaboration and strengthen our impact in the field. The day also featured an insightful lab tour led by the Group of Energy and Power Electronics at Universidade do Minho, offering our candidates a firsthand look at cutting-edge technology in action. To close the day, we explored the historic city of Guimarães and enjoyed a wonderful dinner with our consortium family—a perfect end to an inspiring day!

The third day, kicked of with an insightful presentation on Strategic Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship by Marconi Pereira head of open innovation Efacec, sharing valuable experiences and perspectives on driving innovation in the industry.
In the final session, we had the pleasure of hearing from Nuno Delgado, Electric Mobility Director at Efacec, and Luís Filipe Couto Azevedo Costa, who delivered a compelling presentation on the Challenges for Electric Mobility and Standards for Charging Systems. Their expertise provided us with a deep dive into the evolving landscape of electric mobility and the importance of standardization in charging infrastructure. Exciting learning moments and key takeaways that will undoubtedly shape the future of the sector!
